BUILDING PARTNERS IN CARING CAPITAL CAMPAIGN
$13 MILLION NEEDED TO BUILD WAKE COUNTY’S FIRST FREESTANDING HOSPICE FACILITY.
In response to a growing population and the rising need for residential and
inpatient hospice care, Hospice of Wake County is raising $13 million to
build a freestanding hospice facility. Construction will begin in June 2008,
and Hospice will serve the first patients and families in fall 2009.
The inpatient facility, located at the corner of Trinity Road and Interstate 40,
will have 20 home-like rooms large enough to accommodate overnight stays
by family members. Patients will have access to landscaped patios
through doors wide enough to roll a chair or bed.
A Spiritual Sanctuary that will seat 50 people will be located on site.
The administrative headquarters, which will provide operational support, will
be located adjacent to the inpatient facility. Both clinical and administrative
offices within the headquarters are designed with collaboration and
confidentiality in mind. The Horizons Family Grief Center,
located in the administrative building, will provide space for art and play
therapy, support groups and individual grief counseling. There will also be a
Lending Library and Media Center at this location.
